The Problem

Gully Labs was successfully selling their premium product. The market just didn't perceive it as one.

The shoes were handmade, used Indian leather and created by artisans. None of that was driving purchase decisions.

The brand missed out as a premium player competing on aesthetics and hidden by lower price assumptions on a crowded market segment, where every other label positioned themselves as aspirational.

It resulted in customers comparing prices incorrectly.

The Bottleneck

The value proposition of the website did not support the premium price range. Every visitor had one simple question to ask themselves before making a purchase.

"Why should I buy these instead of Nike/Adidas or any other premium label?"

The website failed to answer this critical why.

It failed to communicate the exclusivity and uniqueness of the product. It competed on factors every other brand was already communicating. This pushed customers to make comparisons between prices they weren't expecting to make.

What Changed

We stopped focussing on price differences and started delivering on value. We changed the positioning from premium streetwear to products made with care. The website started telling a story about culture, its people and the processes involved. All customer interactions were reworked to lead with value.

Every customer touchpoint was rebuilt to answer one question before the purchase: "Why is this worth more?"

The change focussed on maximising value perception. It re-positioned itself as an aspirational brand with a unique story. Founder stories, cultural relevance, and artisan processes became key elements in supporting the premium positioning. As the value increased, so did the acceptance of price.
