How We Increased Conversion by 23.6%, Improved ROAS by 26.6%, and Reduced CAC by 18.1% by Eliminating Purchase Uncertainty
The Problem
Vara wasn't up against shoddy products. It was up against brands that were making the same kinds of claims, and doing so with clinical precision.
Their messaging was credible: doctor formulated, clinically proven, science-backed, etc. To the consumer, they were all virtually indistinguishable. The issue wasn't awareness, it was uncertainty.
The Bottleneck
Paid media was tasked with solving a positioning problem. They were making creative decisions based on channel budgets vs. what customers needed to hear in order to feel confident buying from them.
The website didn't do enough to explain how science actually benefited the consumer, creating pressure to acquire customers while paying a premium for traffic with no assurance that this traffic would convert.
Not only was the channel spending too much budget on the wrong customers, but they weren't actually improving performance by spending more.
What Changed
Rather than double down on value propositions, we focused on explaining the science behind them. The website was restructured to reduce customer indecisiveness rather than list out benefits.
Messaging was segmented to speak to different customer motivations rather than try to appeal to the entire wellness market at once.
We relied on organic content to test messaging, hooks and objections, and then pushed the most effective levers into paid media rather than wasting budget on unproven ideas.
It changed the role of paid media in the business, flipping the usual script of "let's test new ideas" to "let's scale the messaging customers are responding to."
